In the early days of the Terran rebellion, Tom Paris joined up with the cause despite the wishes of his father who held a fairly cushy supervisor position of one of the Alliance factories. He ended up in a cell with a younger man who had all but stumbled into the rebellion — [[Harry Kim (mirror)]].
