Most communications for the sim take place in our group chat on Telegram. You can join the group at: [https://telegram.me/USSJoshuaNorton telegram.me/USSJoshuaNorton]. We can be a chatty bunch, so if you install a phone client it's recommended that you have us on silent mode, or be prepared for frequent notifications at random points during the day or night (we especially recommend you mute us at night unless you put your phone in DND mode). We have people in multiple wide spread time zones, so the time of the day we're active can vary widely depending on who's feeling the need to talk.

Telegram is a chat program that's popular around the world, includes the option of end to end encryption for direct messages, and offers clients on multiple platforms: Android, iOS, WP, Windows, Mac, Linux, and web. Also, there are stickers. We like stickers, we even have our own sticker pack! You can get it here: [https://telegram.me/addstickers/ussjoshuanorton telegram.me/addstickers/ussjoshuanorton]. You're even welcome to add your character/s to the sticker pack, just go create them at [http://www.sp-studio.de/ SP-Studio] using a white background and export using the save image option in the large size (don't hesitate to further customize in photoshop or whatever after export, since they might not have all those necessary alien touches). Then send the file to [[User:Pond|Amy]] so she can do the final adjustment to make it sticker like and add it to the pack.
[https://discordapp.com/ Discord] is a free text and voice chat service that is targeted at video gamers, but has been embraced by a number of communities. They have clients for Android, iOS, Windows, OS X, and 64 bit Linux distros, or you can use their web client. We also offer the Titan Bot widget on the Nova if you need to hop on quickly or without a Discord account.

If you've never used Telegram before, their [https://telegram.org/faq FAQ] will probably be a useful read. The important things though? Even though the program asks for your phone number (it must be able to received a text message to validate your account), it won't be shared with another user unless you choose to, or if they already had your number in their phone contacts. It is recommended you set a username, so that your crew mates can easily mention you in the group chat or PM you for plot planning purposes.
If you can't, or don't want to, use Discord for some reason, some of the crew do also use other chat programs such at telegram, yahoo, skype, etc. and sometimes even list them in their player information within the Nova. Also, there is a PM system built into the Nova or you can email.
