Guardians of Pandrona is series of fantasy role-playing games played on a holodeck. The games center around the creation of a character and then living a virtual life in the world of Pandrona. The games were developed on earth and draw heavy inspiration from older Earthen fantasy books, move and game franchises. The series has several spin-offs based on events in the Pandrona universe. All of the spin-offs are real-time strategy games with a focus on the conflicts that happen between the nations and tribes of Pandrona.

Gameplay

Guardians of Pandrona features 10 distinct regions, 15 playable races, 10 classes with each 4 sub-classes and an unlimited amount of customisable skills and abilities. The player starts off as a blank soul and gets introduced to the world via an elaborate tale of every soul in Pandrona being connected. After this they get to choose one of the fifteen races and one of the ten classes. As the player fights and finishes tasks given by non playable characters, they gain the ability to unlock more skills and eventually a sub-class. With each level gained, the player receives five skill points to distribute across their skills. Every five levels gives an ability point.

Combat is done via a real-time mechanic. The actual movements of the player are translated into the game as actions the character does. Therefor, the game offers a slight hurdle for beginners as they are required to learn certain real-life physical move sets. The players magical abilities come from chants and words said by the physical player. A guide disguised as a 'spell book' is often used as a help for beginners. Bound by their physical prowess the game is often used as a physical workout or anger management outlet.

The player can travel on land by foot or mount, purchasable upon entering a mayor city on one of the 10 continents. Later the option for naval and underground travel are unlocked through quest lines, acting as an introduction to new areas of the world and a tutorial on how to use these manners of transport. Further continents and regions to travel to can be unlocked by corresponding questlines. Weapons, armor and equipment can be both with the in game currency of Gold. Gold is further split between silver and bronze.

Setting

Guardians of Pandrona is set on the similarly named world Pandrona. The world is filled with fantastical races and mysterious lands, mostly based on human medieval stereotypical cultures. There are regions inspired by Europeaan, South-American, Asian and African cultures. The player has the option to start in any of these. Pandrona is home to the legendary Soulbound, these individuals have the ability to grow into mighty heroes or dastardly villains. The world is shaped by the actions of the player and so every game might be different.
